3d accel. of Virtualbox not working in my Slackware 14.1 host with fglrx module

When i put "glxinfo | grep direct" on terminal it returns "direct rendering: yes" but checking Enable 3d Acceleration option in Virtualbox it shows the message "The virtual machine is configured to use hardware graphics acceleration . However, the host system does not currently provide this so that you can not boot the virtual machine."

Often at times, VirtualBox has problems with various drivers and such. Try disabling hardware acceleration first, then after you get the system booted, try installing the VirtualBoxAdditions and then try re-enabling it.

I tried what you suggested me, but i get the same message

Did it do the same thing with the X11/Mesa Free driver?

brunojose 08-01-2014 08:34 PM

With free driver i can't run others 3d programs and kde lose effects

ReaperX7 08-02-2014 09:07 PM

What kind of chipset is it?

brunojose 08-03-2014 12:15 PM

Now i try Slackware64 with free drive and all works fine, but I'm worried about losing any feature of my video card
I'm using a Radeon HD 6850

If LibMesa is properly compiled for features with LLVM, elfutils, and GlamorEGL, it should have the majority of features supported.

The LibMesa OpenGL implementation is still in the 3.x API, while the OEM driver is possibly in the 4.x API. It's little to lose.

If you need a configuration tool, grab driconf off of Slackbuilds.

This has been an ongoing issue with AMD unfortunately not properly supporting anything. Things work and things don't unlike this Nvidia driver that supports anything and everything.
