Question 3com Port & A7N8X

I have recently installed slackware 9 on my system but am having trouble getting it to recognize the integrated 3com ethernet port on my A7N8X motherboard (by ASUS.) I tried running modprobe through all available 3com drivers but it can't detect it. When I check the ASUS website for specs, it doesn't provide much except noting that it is a "MCP integrated 3com MAC + BroadCom AC101L PHY." Please help as I am having trouble looking for any support. It was working previously on my RedHat distribution but won't be recognized since I moved over to Slackware.

After looking through old posts I realized it was a BroadCom/Altima chip (duh... I even say it in the last post.) Is there anything I can do to get it up and running (lspci sees the ethernet adapter.)

MCP integrated NVIDIA® MAC + Realtek® 8201BL PHY = 8211.ko (see http://rtl8181.sourceforge.net/rtl8181_devices.php )

can anyone tell me what

MCP integrated 3Com® MAC + Broadcom® AC101L PHY uses?

Is it 3c59x.ko ?

In return for my help could you complie in 3x59x support and do I modprobe 3x59x for me and see if it is for me?

Could you post the output of :
/sbin/lspci | grep net

I suspect you should use the sk98lin module for your 3com net card but I am not sure
