3Com (3CRWE777A) not recognized on Slackware 8.1 (Dell Inspiron 3500)
Hello,
I am very sorry for posting this, but I have searched for a long time and can not figure out how to set this card up properly. I used Slackware some time ago, but gave it up a few years ago so that I could use better audio recording programs so I know my way around, but I am rusty so please forgive me. I was given a Dell Inspiron 3500 and I bought a 3Com AirConnect (3CRWE777A) PCMCIA card to use. On start up the computer says that it doesn't recognize the card and each time I insert it I hear 2 beeps, one high, one low which, I believe, means that the card is not recognized. However, cardctl ident gives appropriate information about the card in the correct socket. I did a modprobe on the orinoco_cs and etc, but it still doesn't recognize the card. I'm not sure what to do. Thank you for your time. |
If that card is pretty new, you'll probably need a later version of slackware to be able to use it. Slack-8.1 is circa 2000.
