2.6.15.6 to 2.6.16.7
I want to upgrade my kernel from 2.6.15.6 to 2.6.16.7, can i use the configuration file from 2.6.15.6 or do i have to use "make menuconfig" to configure the kernel?
Thanks

You can use the configuration file as a starting point. The changelog only lists one patch, so you are probably safe using the same one. Just make a quick scan to make sure nothing has changed, and you'll be fine.

Just run make oldconfig and you'll be fine.

He said upgrade from 2.6. 15.6 to 2.6.16.7 NOT 2.6. 16.6 to 2.6.16.7.

That's right - as Alien_Hominid says, use make oldconfig and it will re-use your old settings (and prompt you for any new settings). To do this, copy the .config file from your 2.6.15.6 source directory to your 2.6.16.7 source directory before typing make oldconfig.

I've done this as well and used "make bzImage" instead of "make oldconfig" and have been prompted for new settings, etc.
Peace...
