2.6.0 Kernel Make Dep?

OK. I just tried to install the 2.6.0 kernel and when I did "make dep" I got "*** Warning: make dep is unnecessary now." WTF? I have never had this prob in the past. And I have installed the 2.6.-test11 kernel with no problems. Any suggestions??

just try 'make' and when that is done 'make modules_install'.
Then make sure you cp your system.map and your bzimage to /boot.
Update your bootloader and yer done.

Now you just dont need to do make dep...dont nervous and just skip this step
