14BB -- I/O error

still getting the same error at the end of a scratch install

"eject: /dev/sr0 Input/output error"

Am I the only one who does an install from scratch?
Or am I the only one getting this error?

This scsi stuff is tied into a lot of other things USB comes to mind.
Eject seems to be a basic command like sync and should work flawlessly.

I got that too when installing from an iso (created july 23) in qemu, but it was completely harmless so I hadn't given it much importance...

I have to agree with you Ponce, it does 'seem' to be harmless.
It just makes me wonder if there is something else buried in the scsi subsystem that isn't working.

thanks for letting me know I am not alone

Slackware for Dummies

Thanks for taking the time PAT
even the dumb questions get fixed
The DVD now ejects with the Changelog dated
Fri Jul 27 17:15:24 UTC 2012

so far everything I use works as expected

I would be curious to know what fixed the eject.

thanks
john

from the changelog
Code:
isolinux/initrd.img: Rebuilt.
Fixed missing space in SeTnet. Thanks to John Pullan.
  Use -s option for eject.
from "man eject"
Code:
-s This option specifies that the drive should be ejected using SCSI commands.
