Question 10.x and devfsd

Before I consider moving forward from 9.x to 10.x...

Where the heck did the devfsd package go? None of the 10.x distros include it.

Pat removed devfsd it from Slackware's default installation with the release of Slackware 10.0.

However, it is still available in the /pasture directory.

You should probably try and remove it, or at least move away from it because devfs has been officially obsolete for 3 years now.

For a relative noob, that's like asking me to cut my foot off while I'm still learning to walk.

I'm guessing that what I should be doing, is drifting toward udev (and the 2.6.x kernel)?

Maybe, but it is much easier to walk without trying to drag a dead weight!
