10 installs and still no slackware!!
I am distro shopping and the first distro that recognises and installes my modem, PCMIA wireless card and mouse will be my distro of choice.
Literally, 10 installs and still I can't get slackware to install. I get grub errors (15,17,21) or boots to command line. I don't know linux or unix so I have absolutly no idea of what to do then (or care to.) I have tried all types of options in the install but nyet. I have installed red hat, ubuntu, pclinuxos, suse and debian on my LT but slack just won't go.

Slackware always boots to CLI, so everything should be fine at that point, you can change the default runlevel later.

From the tone of your post "(or care to)", I would certainly recommend that you use one of the other distros that you have successfully installed. I imagine you will want to at least know the difference in grub/lilo, cli/gui before coming to Slackware.

Hate to tell you, but odds are, all will not be recognized

If you are getting grub errors, it's not Slackware giving you the problem. Slackware installs lilo

Slackware does not boot to a GUI by default. It does boot to the command line, or CLI.

Check out shilos sticky " How I do it all".
As far as the "care to", if you have that attitude, two things will happen: - You will never get Slackware running correctly, because it takes EFFORT and COMMITMENT. It ain't Windows, pal. It takes WORK. Not alot, because my 11 year old installs/uses it.
- You won't get any help from others. This forum is a GOLDMINE of information, as long as you check your attitude at the door. We all are willing to help, as long as you are willing to learn.
You have a choice:
Put in some effort, and learn Slackware/Linux
Or go back to the warm and fuzzy world of Windows
And from your tone, Bill Gates would love to have you back in his 'big brother' clutches.

"why don't you use LILO to boot?" Why should I? In the install I told it to boot to GUI. I expected it to boot to GUI. If I wanted to have a primitive command line language I would have stayed with TRS-DOS on my Radio Shack Model III 20 years ago or the Timex Sinclare T1000. Machine language on PDP8Ls. Basic, Fortran, C....stone tools, been there done that, finished with it don't care to go back.
" Hate to tell you, but odds are, all will not be recognized" Your kidding. I bet you buy new cars without floor boards. I can hear it now. "If you don't want a good car you need EFFORT and COMMITMENT to LEARN to fabricate metal, learn welding to put them inplace, painting and upoltsry to conver them before you can drive it then you shouldn't have a car!"
"You will never get Slackware running correctly, because it takes EFFORT and COMMITMENT. It ain't Windows, pal. It takes WORK." Frankly, PAL, I've got other things to do than futz around with half finished, quirky system like Linux. You guys are so full of your self because your blinded by Bill Gates dust because you're ten years behind him!

Then go to Windows.
Obviously, you don't want help.
And, BTW, you did not "tell it to boot to GUI". You only told it what Windows Manager you wanted to use.
As for wireless, etc, you must install the correct drivers for them to work, but since you have an aversion to CLI, you'll never get it to work.
As for being "behind" Bill Gates, I'll take that as a compliment. If being "behind" means not one BSOD or virus or even a forced reboot on my laptop in over a year, I'll stay "behind". If "behind" means only running what I want to run, instead of what I'm told is "the best next new gizmo" or even worse, a "feature" that I have to purchase just to make my system unstable, I'll stay "behind". If I want to run a webserver, ftp server, mailserver, and forum on a PII300Mhz 256MB machine, and have it run smooth, without one virus or bit of spyware running amok on it, I'll gladly stay "behind".
Well, enough with this troll. It will eventually see we are willing to help, once it is willing to learn. Probably never read Shilo's post, either. It just wants to rant, like other trolls.

Frankly I cannot understand your attitude. Why do you want to use Slackware? So that you get a kick out of it and can boast that you're a cool dude?
If ease of use is what you're looking for there are *plenty* (underlined plenty) of linux distros that do the job for you. You shouldn't bother installing Slackware because the philosophy is different and the underlying concept is that it's built to be a Unix-like system.
People here would help you if you care to explain your problems and seek help in a mature manner. But since you're more interested in flaming Linux, I guess that makes you a troll in our book. Nobody's going to bother..
All this assuming that you're genuine and not an attention-seeking forum exhibitionist in the first place.

Like wow... this shows me that you're either:
1. Trolling deliberately for attention. (or)
2. Just don't understand the concept of a boot loader.
If it's (1) Just get a life and go away... or if it's (2) change your hectoring attitude and try to learn something or just go back where you came from.

Well, I may have over reacted.
This maybe the perfect distro for you. At least, the ads seem to be what you are looking for.
