10.2 no longer plays cds

CDROMREADTOCHDR: Function not implemented

I get this error whenever I try to play a cd. It didn't do this before, and the only thing I've done is install Rosegarden since I last played one. I've tried workbone, but I can't even get it to start, kscd, juk, noatun won't even run. I've tried xine and xmms in both kde and xfce with no luck. I'm using the default kernel. Any advice is greatly appreciated.

have you checked the symlink?

how do I do that? and why would something like that change? just the other day i had to rebuild my .Xauthority because it stopped working.

well rosegarden broke something, so un-install it and see if the cd plays again, then look at files that rosegarden installs and see which file is creating the conflict and see how it can be edited to
solve the problem

I rebooted so I could use a new livecd I wanted to try and now it works. I have no idea why, yet, though...
