[Xfce] Some processes are spawned multiple times, high RAM consumption
Hi,
I've restored my system to a previous state and when I start the X server and got my Xfce session, the RAM usage is surprisingly high due to some processes being spawned multiple times for no reason at all. Any idea of what can cause this ? Thanks you :) |

That did partially the trick :
My RAM consumption is still that high. Normally I'm around 280 Mb of RAM used at startup and now I'm over 700 Mb... My Slack box is driving me crazy these times. |
for example, htop is showing me 10 firefox processes, 2 nm-applet processes and so on...
I'm seriously considering re-installing a fresh 14.1 at this time. For no reason and for no changes done, my system is acting "weird". I'm bothered because I've done many tweaks in order to have a fully functioning box. e.g Wifi module parameters, hdparm extra parametrers for the primary hard drive and so on... |

Figure out what you did, I suppose. If you're complaining after first boot, remember that ldconfig will start over from scratch after a restore, maybe those X11-related cache makers will do so, too. Memory usage is outrageous in this case. Maybe memory usage will be lower after a reboot. Also, check your session settings in Xfce. Close what you don't need, and if it is set to save your session settings on exit, then pare down your session to nothing and either save your session or exit X11.

Have you updated recently? There was an update on Dec 16 that cleared up a similar issue for me.
