[Solved] Steam now requiring GLIBC_2.17

I just went to run Steam and it is crashing with the error:

STEAM_RUNTIME is enabled automatically
/home/user/.local/share/Steam/ubuntu12_32/steamui.so: /lib/libc.so.6: version `GLIBC_2.17' not found (required by /usr/lib/libdrm.so.2)

I am running Slackware 14.0 and everything was working within the past few days. Is this a new version of steam requiring GLIBC_2.17 or has it always required that library and I broke something else?

Is running Slackware-current the only way to get GLIBC_2.17?

Upgrading 14.0 using the -current glibc packages will mostly work, but you could run into a few (rare) glitches due to the change in crypt() behavior. For example, logging in with a good username and bad password will behave differently that it would if both were bad. Nothing too serious though. It might be the easiest fix.

Edit: I installed AlienBob's Multilib glibc packages for Slackware-current and everything seems to be back to normal wrt Steam.

Current Steam with stock glibc (and Alien Bob compat32) for Slackware64 14. All's well. The error message more likely means you borked your original 32-bit compat32 installation.
