[Nvidia] Where can I find the 304.88 driver slackbuild ?
Hi guys,
I have a Nvidia card that is not supported by the 310.32 driver available on SBo. My system runs fine with the 304.88 one that was available on SBo. I've not done a backup of the previous slackbuilds that were designed for the 304.88 and now I need it since I'm going back to Slack after some distro-hopping. If someone has a backup of all the required files and scripts, please let me know. :) Otherwise, I think that tweaking the actual nvidia slackbuild is possible but I will only do that if there's no other choices left. Thanks you :) |
I think you should be able to compile 304.88 by changing the VERSION-string in the SlackBuild-scripts. That's what I did when I upgraded to 319.23.

However, if your card is not supported by a newer driver (which is rather odd) try to choose the correct driver manually at nVidia website. Good luck ;). |
What is this nvidia card ?
if it is old then you might find that it is xorg that dose not support it for example i have an ancient gforce 2 card ( 96.run driver ) i had to downgrade xorg to use it |
I successfully installed the 304.88 run binary from nvidia but x wouldn't start.
Adding vmalloc=256M to the additional kernel parameters at the top of lilo.conf solved the issue. |

I'm actually in the case described by TobiSGD.
My laptop runs a GeForce 7950 GTX that is no more supported by the upstream driver. You have to own at least a 8 series card to have the benefits of it. I will try the solution proposed by rkfb since it worked in his box. AlienBOB just gave me the link of the git repository of the Slackbuilds projects. I will pick the 302.xx branch Slackbuild and tweak it to make it compatible with my driver version. Thanks you guys, I will let you know how this goes :) |
Maybe this thread can help: http://www.linuxquestions.org/questi...xx-4175458722/
