If I remember correctly, several years back when I had an AMD Athlon II x2 240 just new that I installed in my new mobo, in something like a week or two I was getting those kinds of errors during startup and there was nothing consistent...sometimes it'd startup fine, sometimes the errors. Eventually I figured out it was the cpu. I e-mailed AMD and they had me send it to them to test it and in a day or two e-mailed me back saying it definitely was the cpu and they sent me a new one but even upgraded it to a 250.

@ Skaendo: I just noticed that my system actually does support IOMMU:

bash-4.3# dmesg | grep AMD-Vi
[ 0.615239] AMD-Vi: IOMMU performance counters supported
[ 0.624600] AMD-Vi: Found IOMMU at 0000:00:00.2 cap 0x40
[ 0.624703] AMD-Vi: Extended features: PPR NX GT IA GA PC
[ 0.625066] AMD-Vi: Interrupt remapping enabled
[ 0.625542] AMD-Vi: Lazy IO/TLB flushing enabled
bash-4.3#

Even though I didn't see any reference to it in BIOS. Does that change anything?

That would be kernel level support, if you wanted you could try CAREFULLY adjusting settings. But I think that you should have the processor itself checked out like others have recommended.
