Hi
I installed MLED on my mum's laptop for this very reason:

After much experimenting, I admit I have a strong bias for Xfce. It's by far the most robust, stable and "industrial grade" desktop. By this, I mean I can install it on client's desktop PCs and pretty much forget about it. And it's also quite friendly for computer-illiterate users.

my mum being the epitome of a computer illiterate user. Network manager works fine. For my mum, it's just the perfect; one word processor, one internet browser; no choices and everything works. I changed some of the apps at the bottom of the screen - for example, she never uses chat - I don't think she even knows what it is.
I have it set up with xfce because the laptop is relatively old and sluggish, but in comparison with what it was running before, it is now positively racy. Thankyou very much for providing something easy to maintain from a distance, easy to use for the computer illiterate and something that just works. :D
