'Slackware LQ Suggestions!' UseFul /Not
Hi,
Edit: A new wiki for Slackware LQ Suggestions! is now at Slackware-Links Edit: Hey! Don't be shy. I would really like to know what and if this is really worth the time. Maybe polling is not a true indication of the use. I've noticed that the views for 'Slackware LQ Suggestions!' have reached over 5,000. Not very many comments or suggestions. Except for a few contributors. I'm changing the format and omitting obvious comments to allow more links. The number should reach to about 225 links by doing this. Edit: include referenced link within poll post. |
Hi,
Bump! I would really like some feedback. Am I wasting time with maintaining the post 'Slackware LQ Suggestions!'? |
Gary,
It's not a waste of time from my perspective. Thank you, -Drew |
absolutely not a waste of time.. every time I'm looking for an answer I navigate FFox to your thread and ctrl+f what I'm looking for. Of course google is running in another tab.. ;)
many thanks to you and all who have contributed to that thread. why isnt it stickied anyway? IMHO its at least as helpful as the DRI and 2.6 kernel stickies, and probably more so because those threads are a bit dated now and very long. I think it would be cool to sticky the 'Slackware LQ Suggestions!' (or something similar) that points people to the mega-threads and other helpful stuff. |
Hi,
Thanks guys! XavierP has made good suggestions, #18, #28. I'll look at this later. I use the links list as a reply reference all the time. A lot faster than 'bookmarks' especially if you are going to the same place all the time. My pages are done! Just setting up the site and a little 12 lately. I used -current but not as much as I wanted too. I'm noticing a lot of quirks for 12, nothing that's not correctable. God you gotta love Slackware! His blessing is on us all. |
Hi,
Bump! I would like to get a few more polls. A lot of views with few votes < 15% voting. Don't be shy! I would like to get a good feel to see if the original post 'Slackware LQ Suggestions!' is really being used. |
Hey there onebuck,
I'd vote, but I'm torn between saying that I rarely use the links and that I use them all the time! They're the first place I go on the rare occasion that I need that kind of help ;) Feedback wise, XavierPs suggestion of writing an 'article' is an excellent one. The suggestions thread is a great repository of Slackware information. Creating an article with that information would kind of "officialize' it, I like articles :) |

Thanks for the feedback, I am thinking of writing the article plus the bookmarks suggestion. Just one more thing to add to my TOO_DO list. |
Use the Lq wiki
This would be a great article for the LQ wiki. As items changed, the community could help maintain it. I started this but wasn't about to retype all the links.

I appreciate the thought but I would really prefer that the links list be left as 'Slackware LQ Suggestions!' or 'Slackware LQ Links'. I really don't want sole credit, a lot of people have provided the links, not just from me. I think the community should get the credit since a lot was culled from posts, google and suggestions. The placing of the links into a wiki will be a lot of work since the format is different than the forum. Not just a simple copy & paste. XavierP, a LQ Mod made some suggestions that I'm looking into. I sent a email to him and LQ to get some additional advice or suggestions. Again, Thanks for the thought! Edit: I just got a email from Jeremy; Quote:

I see you posted it to the wiki. Looks great an much more readable than a two-line scrollable window! Good job - both on collecting and maintaining the links

Agree! And Thanks. I still am working on the website/server for my links. This will be a plus also. The wiki seems to be another good way to provide the needs. Edit: Include the wiki link so you can also reference 'Slackware-Links' |

Thanks for compiling and maintaining this list, Gary:-) I frequently scroll through the list of links; a great resource!!
