'do-over': what to copy first?
well, after prolonged internal debate, I have decided to reinstall slack11. I figure this is simpler than trying to remove and fix everything after having installed dropline gnome.
I am not interested in regenerating all the work I have done up to this point and so have copied everything from: /etc ~/.fluxbox ~/.gkrellm2 /usr/local/src I am wondering if perhaps I am missing something that I should copy to save heartache? One of the other reasons I am doing this is because I inadvertently left '/home' on my '/' partition. So pretty much all source and packages I have are in /usr/local. I have done an: ls /var/log/packages > /mnt/shared/myPackages just in case I have misplaced a package I need, any other suggestions before I start tinkering again? many thanks! |
have you saved your self compiled modules? ( /lib/modules )
why did you not back up the rest of your home directory? |
I didn't think there was much of interest in my /home directory.
Because I had failed to make a '/home' partition I always put downloaded source into '/usr/local/src' besides that I haven't really done a lot, since I've been the 'screw with things until they break' sort of user. Still exploring linux & slackware in general, but I've settled enough on what I like now to actually just set it up and keep it that way. Quote:
