I have also the same problem
But I am uusing RH 8.0
The problem is that where can we find the most recent driver
These all drivers are compiled with gcc version 2
and we are using gcc version 3.2

just do insmod -f pctel & insmod -f ptserial
so no need to worry about different kernel versions

Thank you
When I typed the command

insmod -f pctel

The out put of this command came with warning messages which i have not remember. But it displays that the module are loaded sucessfully, after warning messages.
No what should I do?
Do you need that output messages?
I can post them.
After loading modules the kppp doesn,t connect to net. It first says that modem ready and after that it stop at "initializing modem"

what driver do you have...pctel-0.9.7-9 is the newest, avaliable here http://linmodems.technion.ac.il/pctel-linux/

In kppp, click configure and go to the device tab and make sure its on dev/modem.Im using these drivers on a 2.4 kernel with mandrake 10 with no probs. The modules will always load with warnings but should still work.

*note...you will have to do insmod -f pctel and insmod -f ptserial everytime you reboot until you write a script to auto load modules at boot.
