humbly asking how to silently update all apt packages and do dpkg --configure -a after

So i have about 1000+ packages to update on my system and i don't have all day to answer yes and no to the config file updates.

Does anyone know one know how to update all packages for apt or apt-get and do the configuration later with dpkg --configure -a ???

This link has a few options to automate the question: https://superuser.com/questions/1645...pt-get-install
but it is either yes or no to everything. You should not be getting a lot of config questions unless you are doing an upgrade to a newer release.

Wouldn't unattended-upgrades be the way do this - I would guess that is designed to answer the default (safer?) option in any yes/no question?
