[SOLVED] RTL8812BU?

I noticed the Arm distributions were very good with usb wifi support. Especially so for crazy chips that shouldn't be given away free, never mind sold. Is there any support for that RTL8812BU chip? My kernel can get updated if necessary.

Usb ID is 0bda:b812. There's 2 drivers on github for it, and I'm going down in flames on the older one. The github page is read-only, it's only seeing the best few signals, won't dance with wpa_supplicant, etc. I can rejig thing and use it on the RazPi if that has native support.

Since we are talking arm.

I was really hoping that someone had done the work for me. It seems not. I started trying on x86_64, as it's handier for me.

There's 2 drivers on github: I cloned some version of https://github.com/cilynx/rtl88x2bu from an ubuntu thread and it was bad - it worked, but only found a few 2.4Ghz APs, wouldn't tango with wpa_supplicant or dhcpcd.

The other one https://github.com/corneal64/AC1200-...reless-Drivers has it's own include dir. It uses dkms, and it hasn't ¼ of the includes it wants. So I played whack-a-mole symlinking in includes, and it gradually went off the rails over dodgy includes, I think. Look towards the end of https://pastebin.com/JXUaUT6M. It's 454 lines in total.

I think I have a later version from the 1st guy (cilynx) so I'll try that next time. Enough punishment for today. If it's up to the job, though, it should be good: Twin band, host mode, etc.

Yes, thanks, I spotted that....finally.
It wasn't helping me on x86_64.

It's in the rtl 8822/ sub-sub-sub-sub-directory, but it's rtl88x2bu which covers the rtl8812bu. And it's working well on Arm64. And the thing insists on being wlan2, for some reason I have yet to test host AP mode, but that's another day's work. The chip is high spec. Let's hope the driver is also.

It also appears that of the three drivers up on github providing an rtl88x2bu module, I built the wrong two. And I hadn't loaded the collected Realtek "Blob of blobs" firmware either.
