Setup .htpasswd / .htaccess

sorry to ask the similiar question as I still not get the problem fixed

I want to use htpasswd / htaccess to protect a website , I have followed the below link to setup it .

https://help.dreamhost.com/hc/en-us/...-htaccess-file

I want to add a password auth to protect a website , the step I did as below

Code:
#htpasswd -c /home/username/example.com/.htpasswd user1

#vi /home/username/example.com/.htaccess

#Protect Directory
AuthName "Dialog prompt"
AuthType Basic
AuthUserFile /home/username/example.com/.htpasswd
Require valid-user
However , even I did the above , it still not prompt the login / password , would advise what is wrong in my setting ?

thanks

There was no reason to start a new thread for what is a continuation of your previous thread which you marked SOLVED although it isn't.

I said it's a continuation of your previous thread. 100% linear.
I suspect you started a new one to obfuscate the fact that you don't pay for RedHat. Personally I don't care about that, I'm still willing to help you - but only in your original thread. Actually, I already did and you adressed only a small portion of my questions/suggestions. Please click on the link, and read. If it still doesn't work, answer my request for clarification.
