Hi all, i use cadence to run jack server. I installed alienbob's daw template, which now configures all necessary configuration files, and because i use Guitar Rig, i installed wine and wineasio. Everything ran without any issues. However, today, after i connected everything (usb soundcard is input, and where i plug in my guitar, laptop soundcard is output, while wineasio i use to connect Guitar Rig, while guitarix i simply connect with catia) i opened Guitar Rig and i had huge noise on output, i shutdown Guitar Rig, open guitarix noise is still there. I even unplugged my guitar and still got noise on my speakers. In Cadence logs i get these errors:
Honestly, don't know what happened there, yesterday everything worked like a charm. Can anyone help me with this? I can still play, i just get big noise on output that wasn't there before.
OS is slackware64-current, and i attached rest of cadence logs. Also have recordings of how it was and can record how it is now if u want to hear difference.
I prefer playing and recording my guitar through a tube amp and then playing with any digital effects or addons in a DAW, but since you apparently don't, have you tried Guitarix? https://slackbuilds.org/repository/14.2/audio/guitarix/ It was designed for Jack.
Yes, i have and the noise is there after something "breaks" no matter what amp app i run (don't think it is even amp app problem since when unpluging guitar i still get noise). I use both guitarix and guitar rig, one at the time, depending on preset and didn't have any issues til today. Maybe certain combination (e.g. stopping jack before exiting amp app) could've caused problem, the only problem is i am clueless what happened since i didn't touch any conf file, any setting in jack.
And i rarely record, i mostly want to jam over some backing tracks on youtube, quick plug in and play, hence why this method.
This may seem a nebulous response but it may help you discover by comparison how to get the configuration you want. Try AlienBob's DAW version of LiveSlak to see if you get similar results ot the noise stops. Pulseaudio configuration can be critical especially when also using Jack since there is some overlap. They don't always play nice with each other unless you configure Pulse to go sit in a corner. It may be that Pipewire can (or will) fix this but for my part I just castrate pulse and won't mess with Pipewire until vb15 Official is released.
My initial post was vague so any suggestion is great. That is good idea, to try out LiveSlack. Always wanted everything on one system, but now i think it is actually better to separate DAW from my main system to avoid these collisions between jack and pulse. And i'm not brave enough to remove pulse from my system yet, but am following pipewire with great interest. Thanks for the tips.

Thank you for reply. Have more than 100G free space on system partition; my user is member of audio group and i followed alienbob's guide for configuring DAW (https://alien.slackbook.org/blog/con...-use-as-a-daw/); dmesg shows nothing irregular. I am starting to believe that my cable or sound card could be at fault. Initially i was thinking that something "broke" because of cadence's logs and hoped someone would find them useful to help, but now i think that those errors it reports, are meaningless.
