I am hoping it is a module I can blacklist, or even better, vaporware.

Actually, no, it's not bad. It isn't "native" speed but it's not bad at all. All my work is done from that set up. The windows host is running on VMWare. The Kali VM is running on virtual box inside the window host. The windows host is a dual socket xeon with 8 cores, 16 virtual, and 32GB ram so it's no slouch.

I still run a Windows 10 VM to access Usenet with the Windows slrn and to update a GPS car device but soon enough both of these will be redundant...
