Sysprep like alternative for Ubuntu 18.04 and customization possibilities

Hello verybody,

I am searching for a way to customize an ubuntu 18.04 installation. In best case I should be able to:
  • Automize the process
  • Customize the look of the installation wizard
  • Predefine or skip some steps I dont need

Currently I am using "cubic" https://launchpad.net/cubic, however there is no way to automize this. It is GUI based. Another option that I found was "respin" https://launchpad.net/respin. However, it looks very rough and unfinished and I havent used it yet.

I guess for both solutions I can use a preseed file to define or skip some steps of the installation wizard. But what I havent found yet at all is a way to customize the look of the installation wizard e.g. changing colors or fonts.

I am happy for any kind of input.

Greetings,

Mangosniper

Maybe cobbler??? https://help.ubuntu.com/community/Cobbler

It is possible to use Clonezilla over various medias and by using various sources. They'd have to be complete.

@jefro, thanks for your suggestion. However, for me it looks that coobler is used for the step you would do after what I want to do (So deployment instead of creation). I need a solution to customize the iso image and after that coobler would be used to deploy it via PXE.

Or am I wrong?

Have you read the information at the Ubuntu site at the link below?

https://help.ubuntu.com/community/In...DCustomization

Another option is using Systemback but this would require that you do an install of Ubuntu, then modify what you want before creating the iso. If you want to make modifications to the installer, you would have to first install the Ubiquity installer as it is obviously not installed on an installed system.

Hey,

better late than never. Thanks for your suggestions. The stuff at the official ubuntu page looks interesting and I will investigate into that and post my results.
