slackware 14.2 mini-install.iso not booting - kernel panic ?

does anybody have a clue why Alien's slackware 14.2 mini-install ISO wouldn't boot in a VPS farm (Linode in my case) ?

Code:
slackware_x86_64-14.2-mini-install.iso
i dd-d the ISO image into /dev/sdb from where i try to boot the VPS so i can install slack142 onto /dev/sda. just once i saw in the Glish terminal window some kernel panic message but i had no chance to make a note of it.

interestingly several versions of Alien's SlackCurrent mini-install ISOs :

Code:
slackware64-current-mini-install.iso
worked just fine, most recently yesterday, all booted the very same way in this VPS farm...

The mini ISO is exactly the same as the official Slackware installation ISOs, the "mini" part refers to the fact that the small ISOs do not contain any package, they are to be used for network installations.
The 14.2 ISO boots a much older kernel than the -current ISO, I guess your Linode environment may have issues with the older kernel, but without you being more specific about the on-screen errors this is all I can give you as feedback.

thank you, Alien, for your reply. i don't know what went or what goes wrong as the 142mini does not want to boot nor on vpsA nor on another new vpsB. but, strangely so, the regular 142iso boots on both vpsA and vpsB. as you say, the current-mini seems to boot just fine on all our VPSs.

i am going to close this thread as things seem to work now. because i had to go with the venerable slack142 environment (for subsequent TensorFlow 2, CUDA, cuDNN installs) i just booted and installed from the regular 142iso and by doing so lost a bit of VPS disk space (3GB, which i may reclaim later if resizing partitions works). anyway, let's keep fingers crossed that TF2 will now finally work - with slack142 and the nVidia RTX6000 GPUs...!
