There is nowhere to enter the search criteria on which to find. It looks to me that the line where one would enter this criteria has been squashed to almost nothing.
I've uninstalled and tried again with the same result.

Also tried gnucash 3.7 on 14.2+ updated with alienbob's ktown. Works perfectly there.
Are there any other gnucash users out there experiencing the same problem?
I can confirm that I see this issue: also using SW 14.2.
Unfortunately, although I've installed GnuCash, I've never actually used it, so I have no other info to share.
Must be a 14.2 problem. The Edit -> Find works here. I am using Slackware64-current.
I use my own SlackBuild. I found I had to build from git. Building from source encountered several problems that have been fixed in git. Rather than gather patches I just built from git. Version: 3.7 Build ID: git c7c76c2+(2019-10-18).
It is most likely a problem with gtk+3. Slackware-14.2 has gtk+3-3.18.9 and Gnucash exposes some bugs there.
I'm using gnucash-3.7 on Slackware-14.2 (32-bit), but I built it so it links against gtk+-3.20.10 (Slackware would call that gtk+3-3.20.10). It had display glitches like you describe with the system gtk+3 but works fine with the upgraded gtk+3. Note, I did not upgrade Slackware-14.2 to that version of gtk+3 : I built it and installed it separately and only gnucash uses it.
I see the bug report, but where is the patch found?
I've downloaded 3.6 and modified the SBo slackbuild for it. But would like to upgrade to 3.7. Developer says fix will be in 3.8 release. If you found the patch/work around for 3.7, would you mind sharing with us all?
Cheers
There is no patch. I applied the work around contained in the bug report. The work around is a simple edit of one file, which I applied and gnucash Find now works as expected.
I've generated what might make do as a patch, see attached. Not tested it.
