auto start user login session in KDE

I have Slackware64 14.2 and KDE 4.14 (I think). I have a Windows 10 virtual machine on this Linux host. What I want to do it automatically "login" this user/owner of the Virtual Machine when the system boots, without the KDE login screen and without having to enter the password. I do know how to auto-launch the VM once the user logs in, that step shouldn't be a problem.

What I'm after is for the workstation user to automatically be presented with the Windows 10 login page without having to first login as the Linux user. Basically, the user should have no idea this WIN10 is running under Linux.

How do I do this?

I have had both KDE4 and KDE Plasma5 automatically boot to the desktop. No login necessary. Here are my notes for KDE4:

This will only work for KDE AFAIK.

You'll need to have "root" edit: /etc/inittab and change id:3:initdefault to 4.

Code:
# Default runlevel. (Do not set to 0 or 6)
id:4:initdefault:
(If you were to change nothing else at this time, the next time you reboot you will be greeted by a graphical login screen where you can choose the Desktop / Windowmanager / Whatever and enter your username and password.)

KDE 4:
Now in your program menu go to:
Code:
System Settings
Account Details
Scroll down to "System Administration"
Login Screen
From the tabs pick "Convenience"
Auto-login [X]
YOUR_USERNAME
Enable Password-Less Logins
Apply
EDIT - Now you can reboot and login automatically to KDE without having to enter your username and password.

NOTE -- This can prove to be a real PITA if you ever want logon another user OR if you ever desire to use any other desktop than KDE.

Awesome Gordie! I will try that ASAP when I get back to being physically in front of that computer. Hopefully, yet this evening. For this particular workstation I am using KDE and have no need for KDE/login for any other user.

Yup! that worked, but your instructions are a bit off, at least for my version of KDE. My correct steps are:

System Settings > Login Screen (not Account Details) > Convenience tab; check: enable Auto-Login, check: Enable Password-Less logins; and of course, select a user.

As I said, that worked great! Thanks
