Linux Journal died.

Oh my god...

Quote:
On August 7, 2019, Linux Journal shut its doors for good. All staff were laid off and the company is left with no operating funds to continue in any capacity. The website will continue to stay up for the next few weeks, hopefully longer for archival purposes if we can make it happen.

Came on just to post this....

I feel like crying. It honestly saddens me. I would visit this site daily—daily!

What surprises me most is that this came only shortly after they had done their whole site re-design and now it's come to this.

I don't want to believe it but I must. :|

Yes, it is sad. I still have their link that I visit from time to time. 25 years is a long time.

Magazines, unfortunately, are pretty much dead, in this day of instant internet access to info, all they did was to draw it all together in one place, but often it would be out of date by the time of publication.

It's too bad they couldn't make an electronic magazine work. It could have served as an archive to both the newbie and expert. It seems many repeat questions are asked having answers that could be stored in a public repository. Web searches for newbies will work for awhile, but it will get more difficult to locate a straight forward answer since more and more answers to newbies are becoming snide, demeaning retorts by self-promoting 'experts'.
