I figured out why ffmpeg was not working as expected: it needed "wavpack-4.75.2-x86_64-1.txz" and "libsmbclient.so".
I expect people who use my packages, to use them on a full install of Slackware. Missing libraries like you experienced are the result of not following the standard avice to do a full installation.
If you are short on disk space (i.e. you have an ancient computer and still want to run the latest Slackware) and you skip the packages you do not need, then missing libraries can be more easily spotted when you start a program from the terminal commandline. In the program output you should see the errors related to the missing libraries after which you can then look for the corresponding missing packages and install those.
Until I read what you wrote yesterday, I did not realize you "expect people who use my packages, to use them on a full install of Slackware."
Before I installed "ffmpeg-3.4.6-x86_64-1alien.txz" I looked for an associated README file. Also, I read the .txt and .meta files, and looked over the .lst file. I would like to suggest an improvement for the .meta file, for the section "PACKAGE REQUIRED:", that at least wavpack and samba be listed.
Thank you for being so helpful for Slackware. Also, thank you for having compiled "ffmpeg-3.4.6-x86_64-1alien.txz", and for publishing it. :-)

Pretty much anyone packaging for Slackware expects people to run full installs. Since Slackware itself lacks dependency management, it would be extremely difficult to list all the dependencies in Slackware that would be required to run ffmpeg or any other program. His "PACKAGE REQUIRED:" lines will include any package that he hosts in his repo that is required for functionality for the program. I can pretty much guarantee he won't adjust it to include stock packages.
