I firmly believe in and support free open source software. I mostly run FOSS. However, I do own legal versions of Windows 10 Pro and MS Office 2019 for my one Windows Thinkpad. They cost a few bucks. I don't believe in running pirated software. Each to his/her own.
I agree, I buy collectives and like originals. A lot of people automatically think torrent is illegal. This why I specifically said NOT all is illegal.

Exactly. I use torrents a lot to download Linux and BSD ISOs.
Does GOG.com have a linux native copy for sale? I support Good Old Games aka GOG they do alot of work getting old games working and sell them at prices that are ridiculously low.
wine probably requires multilib to work with this game mentioned and other stuff.
Yeah, it will most likely work. Especially now that I see that you are running multilib, which means playonlinux, the tool I suggested in the other thread, will probably be the best bet for you.
As for piracy:
I personally think that a lot of big boy studios are actually becoming the pirates these days (or at least skittering into a pseudo 'more or less long con' territory).
Software as a service, and all that, with laws that are wishy washy and nebulous.
Ooops, I guess our service cannot be upheld anymore because of [reason], so the ride is over, but thanks for your money, byebye.
Other than that, I think that it is a good practice to pay for software that is being sold.
However, I also cannot be too mad at pirates, it is a risk the unsolicited authoring and release of software brings with itself.
If you want a guaranteed income for your product, make contracts, get commissioned. Writing something and expecting it to be sold 'like a good boy software product' is not a guarantee one should expect without these securities.
Other than that, I think that it is a good practice to pay for software that is being sold.
Agreed. As I previously mentioned I paid for legal copies of Microsoft software. I enjoy the freedom that free open source software gives me. I financially support the two open source operating systems that I run (Slackware and OpenBSD).
