How do I get and install java 11 'stuff' - published internet info doesn't work
This is typical of what I get when trying to install java. I bought JAVA all-in-one for Dummies and the examples in the book are written using Java 9. Can't install it because it is outdated. Below is what happened when I tried Java 11.
I'm totally lost here. Thought I could use Synaptic Pkg Manager for this but I don't know what to install.
Quote:
rick@rick-Latitude-E6510:~$ sudo apt install oracle-java11-set-default
[sudo] password for rick:
Reading package lists... Done
Building dependency tree
Reading state information... Done
Package oracle-java11-set-default is not available, but is referred to by another package.
This may mean that the package is missing, has been obsoleted, or
is only available from another source
However the following packages replace it:
oracle-java12-set-default oracle-java11-set-default-local
E: Package 'oracle-java11-set-default' has no installation candidate
Your question is not actually a programming question but rather a package manager question and as such is more appropriate in the forum for your distro, assumed to be Ubuntu (you should include that information in the question).
Also, did you read the message you posted and try the suggested replacement package? If so, what was the result?
