Today u test with gcc-9.1.1_svn ... same problem , i start think if glibc is not involved , cause locales are in puzzle.

regarding this there's a patch available on the lkml (it seems it hasn't been applied yet to the kernel tree)

I apply and test in spanish enviroment, but kernel ever fails build , i need pass LANG=en_US.UTF-8 , to build.

Hi again , as a little experiment , i update GCC-5 , in a stable 14.2 box to GCC-9 using slackbuild from current , and rebuild libtool for match enbedded gcc version.

And kernel FAILS TO BUILD , excatly same as in current in to spanish LANG.

Then now im pretty pretty sure , problem is inside GCC , some slackbuild option , or some upstream patch is needed.

The patch , fix the issues , i hope a current gcc packages go update or patch to fix this.
