Yes, for sixty days. After that, it will continue working, but I suppose your access to SLES repos expires.

It will continue to run - but you'd better not connect it to the 'net as it won't get any updates; notably security.
Going cheap on support on a server is rarely a good idea.

Instead of assuming, why don't you visit the SuSE website and read about it?? Coincidentally, that's where you DOWNLOAD it as well.

And using SLES or Red Hat Enterprise without paying is a hugely bad idea. You don't get updates, patches, bugfixes, or security fixes, because you're not registered. You've done nothing but make absolutely SURE that your server will be out of date, hard to maintain, and have broken security. Load CentOS or 'regular' SuSE instead, which are free. Otherwise, PAY FOR what you use, and also get the support you will obviously need. If you're unwilling to do a very tiny bit of research about how to download something or read the terms on a web page, you will probably need professional support later, since self-support will be challenging.

Thanks for the reply TB0ne and syg00, I have downloaded the ISO file for SLES 11 SP4 from official SUSE website. I did proper research but there is no information available on the website or internet for what will happen after the trial period expires. I was expecting if something had already gone through the same situation and he/she can share the experience.

For Example - Windows Server if you download and install as an evaluation edition. Post expiry of evaluation edition the system will shut down after every 1 hour

I am going to install S4 HANA on this system(256 GB RAM and 16 CPU) and it will be a development system but not sure if openSuse will able to consume these resources or not that is the reason I was going for SLES enterprise edition.

Please, sure your reviews on this.

Thanks in Advance.

Sorry, no...there is AMPLE documentation on their website that tells you this.

Again: if you aren't going to PAY FOR SLES, then DO NOT USE IT. Can't make it more simple than that. And ANY operating system will 'consume' those resources...openSUSE, Ubuntu Server, CentOS, Mint, whatever. It'll use what's there. Your assertion is invalid.

Doesn't matter what it's used for (development, production, whatever), but it won't get patches or anything else. Not much point in developing on a system that will wind up having old libraries, outdated security, etc., then expecting that stuff to work in a production environment, that has newer.

My old RHEL 6 continued running after the license expired (I eventually converted it to Centos). I can’t imagine SLES is different. As you already learned, you will have an unpatched system.

OpenSUSE has no problem with this size of RAM and CPU. See also https://forums.opensuse.org/showthre...460809-Max-Ram.

openSUSE Leap 15 is basically SLE at the core. If you want to use the same software without paying a subscription free then load up Leap. You'll have to upgrade the system between major versions of Leap within a year of the next one coming out unlike the SLE lifecycle, but the software won't be too different.

Note that SLES 11 SP 4 is from (june) 2015 so almost 4 years out of date.
Without the paid support for updates it is a security risk on the net.

Current version of SLES is 15 and it's a free download (for 60 days trial usage) from
www.suse.com/products/server/download/
