Not complaining. Nothing really broken. Just looking at some housekeeping. Perhaps something that might help Pat.
Running pwck I get the following:
Code:
user 'news': directory '/usr/lib/news' does not exist
user 'pulse': directory '/var/run/pulse' does not exist
user 'haldaemon': directory '/var/run/hald' does not exist
Looks like all three are hard-coded in the a/etc package.
I don't think I have ever seen /usr/lib/news in a long time. Looks like the nn and slrn packages use the news user/group. The only news directory I find is /var/lib/slrnpull/news. There is a reference to /var/spool/news in the tin package slack-desc.
The /var/run/pulse directory seems legitimate but appears only when running rc.pulseaudio.
haldaemon seems obsolete.
Same result with 14.2 and Current. Not fresh/clean installs.
On a fresh 14.2 full install:
Code:
user 'lp': directory '/var/spool/lpd' does not exist
user 'news': directory '/usr/lib/news' does not exist
user 'gdm': directory '/var/lib/gdm' does not exist
user 'pulse': directory '/var/run/pulse' does not exist
user 'haldaemon': directory '/var/run/hald' does not exist
/var/spool/lpd is easily created.
gdm seems obsolete, although there is a slackbuilds.org package.
On a fresh Current full install:
Code:
user 'lp': directory '/var/spool/lpd' does not exist
user 'news': directory '/usr/lib/news' does not exist
user 'gdm': directory '/var/lib/gdm' does not exist
user 'sddm': directory '/var/lib/sddm' does not exist
user 'pulse': directory '/var/run/pulse' does not exist
user 'haldaemon': directory '/var/run/hald' does not exist
sddm seems obsolete, although there is a slackbuilds.org package.
