Ubunut/Peppermint cycle of death, apt install is confused.

trying to get gparted and this is what I am getting instead, says its installed but command not found, cache search to make sure I am using a proper Ubunututu app name for gparted, and the cycle of death begins as its running me around saying it is installed, then no its not but do this to install it, etc...

Code:
userx@peppermint9 ~ $ sudo gparted
sudo: gparted: command not found
userx@peppermint9 ~ $ sudo apt-cache search gparted
gparted - GNOME partition editor
drobo-utils - manage data robotics storage units (drobos)
partitionmanager - file, disk and partition management for KDE
userx@peppermint9 ~ $ su
Password:
su: Authentication failure
userx@peppermint9 ~ $ sudo su
root@peppermint9:/home/userx# gparted

Command 'gparted' not found, but can be installed with:

apt install gparted

root@peppermint9:/home/userx# apt install gparted
