problem with okular

I have installed "recoll" (which can find keywords inside documents). It is possible to visualize documents from recoll, using okular (I use AlienBob's KDE5).
But when a postscript file compressed with bzip2 is found, the uncompressed postscript is stored in /tmp, in a file with the extension .ai .
But okular cannot open such a file, even if it is a valid postscript document.
What can be done ?

I don't know the specific of that particular file, but usually *.ai files are Adobe Illustrator Artwork vector files, a special kind of proprietary-format postscript (maybe not supported by okular): I usually import them using inkscape, I'm not sure if karbon (included with kde 5) is actually able to open them.
alternatively you can use ghostscript to convert them (not tried this here).

in fact the uncompressed files in /tmp/ are exactly the same as the original ones, except the names ( *.ps for the original ones, *.ai for the files created by recoll in /tmp).
It seems that okular accepts or refuses files according to their names

The author of recoll suggested the following trick to solve the problem : put a fake definition in ~/.recoll/mimemap:

.ai = application/postscript1

After that the uncompressed postscript files in /tmp are *.eps, and okular can show them.
