Forgot simple root password
Yeah!! So tried this:
o bootup
o Entered 'e' (no quotes)
o Selected line:
kernel /vmlinuz ... ro ... quiet ...
o changed ro to rw and appended (space)single init=/bin/sh
o pressed ENTER key
o Typed: ctrl-x
got boot?? lines from system
o At sh-4.4# typed passwd
Responded to New & Retype new password
and got:
... message saying tokens accepted
o Tried suggested "reboot" on command line with no result i.e. didn't work
Ran bootup
Now on entering either user or root password I do not get log in accepted.
Is the final boot the failure point? If not where is the screw up??
