Troubles with latest Fedora 27 updates?

Hello All,
Am I the only one seeing odd things?
The 'image viewer' shows jpeg images OK for a sec then the image turns into a horizontal lines, the dnfdragora window has a red background where usually white, and when a dir is opened it blinks and some the names of files and dirs are missing for a few secs.
Running F27 with Cinnamon desktop. Everything has been fine up until a day or so ago.
Searches for info on issues described above reveal nil.
Any ideas?

Cheers,
Terry

sounds like a graphics driver issue

what is this a desktop or laptop
and is this a AMD or nvidia 3d card or a gpu on a chip on the mobo ?

also what repos are installed ?
post the output of
Code:
su -

dnf repolist all

Nope - but you did spook me into delaying my occasional update.
Just did it - pulled in mesa and a kernel. No issues here after a reboot.

Old ATI card using the radeon driver on gnome3 - and a bunch of repos that would drive John VV to despair ....

yes this is a bit of a pet peeve

sometimes people have 10+ repos they are using
this can cause incompatible rpm's to get installed

and can sometimes be a royal pain to fix
if CAUTION is not used

i even do this a bit on opensuse and in the past have had a MESS to clean up

on fedora/rhel/suse one of the main causes of odd problems is having incompatible rpm's installed

Hope that helps.
If it is a graphics driver issue, interesting thing is not (yet) seen any other graphics related issues.

Some additional info, if it helps.
The attached images show the dnfdragora window, and image viewer.
The display in image viewer is random, often starts out correct then snaps to lines as shown, but can intermittently display correctly for a few seconds then go haywire again, and as can be seen all else in the viewer and background is OK.
Thus far not seen any other windows affected like dnfdragora, and graphics is good elsewhere I.e. darktable, Rawtherapee, Digikam, and in browsers.

Hope this helps someone have a bright idea as to what is going on here.

Cheers,
Terry

an idea
----
nphilipp-gimp-unstable Copr repo

----

i build Gimp 2.9 from the "git://git.gnome.org" tree

now even in fedora the 2.9 development branch can need versions of software that are still too new even for fedora

babl, gegl, libmypaint , and others i build out of the system path do to conflicts

this may or may not be the root of you problem , but worth looking into

OK.
I have removed gimp-unstable and after a reboot nil has changed...so either gimp-unstable is not the culprit or I have gone about this incorrectly.
Thanks for help, and for any new insights you may have.

Cheers,
Terry

Some more clues.
If I start up in gnome, the dnfdragora window is black where it is red when running Cinnamon.
Image viewer worked flawlessly...no sign of any troubles.
Not sure what all this means, but hopefully it will give a clue or two to someone.

Cheers,
Terry

Not getting very far with this issue.
I have just tried 'showFoto' and 'Shotwell viewer' and both perform correctly, none of the distorted display shown by 'Image Viewer'.
Anyone have any ideas what might be causing the issues I have described?

Cheers,
Terry

I think I'll have to give up on this forum, for this issue.
Doesn't Anyone have a clue as to what's causing my problem?

Terry

As a last resort, swapped out the graphics card (Nvidia GTX 750ti) for one I could lay my hands on, an old Nvidia GTX9600, and all the little problems I had been seeing have gone away.
So looks like it was a hardware issue.

Cheers,
Terry
