The cloud is not PCs: the cloud is hundreds/thousands of servers. A client has to have a computer to access the cloud. PCs are not going away any time soon.

Location: Earth? I would say I hope so but I'm not so sure about that... I could just be a figment of your imagination too.
Distribution: Currently OpenMandriva. Previously openSUSE, PCLinuxOS, CentOS, among others over the years.

But this is the point: you don't need a desktop PC to access the cloud, and a desktop PC isn't portable like a laptop, and particularly computers like tablets, smartphones, etc. Hence the question - nobody was saying the cloud is made up of desktop PC's, etc (well I for one certainly wasn't). I think we all know "the cloud" is simply just a marketing term for someone else's server(s).

Understand, I should have quoted previous post: "But the cloud is PCs, since corporations are apparently persons.
We cannot escape the PC scourge and will be forever chained to those blasted things. Ahhhhghhhhhhhhhh. I want to go bowling and see people..."

I was just illustrating you need some sort of device to access cloud services, be it a phone, laptop or desktop. I prefer desktops personally, but use all three. I would be very disappointed if I would not use a desktop and had to do everything from a laptop or a phone. Would seriously limit my computer usage for sure.

I kinda think for general entertainment and home use PCs are not as common as they used to be...except for those that play online games, etc. Work is definitely a place where PCs are still needed for a lot of situations.

Probably true as many people use mobile devices now. I am a die hard PC user though and although I also use mobile devices, I find them a compromise and could not use one full time, laptop included: too "confining" if that makes sense.
