Firefox/snap in Mate 22.04.1 problem

Hi all,
slowly I get a problem with snap. I got tired of the notification that I hvae to refresh Firefox with
Quote:
snap refresh firefox
and when I try that, after closing all Firex windows, I still get the message that firefox is still running.
After that I removed Firefox with
Quote:
snap remove firefox
and got the cofirmation ok.
Then I installed the repository for Firefox, and Firefox.
Then I get the message that Firefox is allready the newest version, even if not present.
After this I think I will seek a disro which doesn't rremind me so much on Windows, where it is more or less impossible to remove MS-software.
Tjis is more a statement then ask for help.
It's a pitty that this snap, which really reminds far to much on Windows get so common.
Bye.

Hi.

Doesn't snap work alongside Apt? Mint's middlepeople maybe better than *ubuntu's "workers*" but why not Debian? You know, where they're built from. Firefox is also far enough along that IMHO you can just install it from their maintainers: https://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/new/ but I trust Debian and me...

have fun!

Edit: "workers;" LL

Hi,
sorry for the delay, my motherboard broke down and had to be replaced.
Latest first:
I tried a lot, also the link mentioned. And of course, I know where Ubuntu and Mate come from. It always end with Firefox is already the newest version.
So I follow verndog's tip and deactivate snap, don't like the behavior at all, to refresh one has to close all application of that or all snap-apps, depending on the refresh method, at a time which doesn't suite me, and that annoying notification pops up all the time.
Thanks for the replies.
All the best, DagJNJ

Leaving that as is: what do you think of systemD? I like it, like Debian but don't read every line of code..?
