Recently purchased the USB version, logged in for the first time a few weeks ago and set up my desk top -
(First Glitch: The analog clock in pwidgets did not / does not display - Maybe this is because the Desktop thinks there are already too many widgets occupying space - with the Calender, Ram, Processes etc. The DIGITAL clock displays on the strip at the top of the screen . . . ) -
(Second Glitch: I downloaded a few programs, REAPER, and GNOME GAMES and some others. "Gnometris" - the Tetris clone for Gnome - does not function. When I click for "New Game" it just closes the program... Had this problem on an earlier version of 13.37.)
I SAVED all the changes to *another* USB stick and the Save File loaded everything fine the next time I fired up Studio 13.37 the next day, BUT -
TODAY when I logged in ( a few weeks have elapsed) - GLITCHES:
1.) The USB sticks do not display on the desktop. The only drive volume displaying is the Hard Drive for the laptop. When I look in the Hardware verifier - again - NO USB 's display! Only the Hard Drive.
When I searched via pMount, yes, the USB 's are shown - One in /mnt - but I can't find where my 2nd SaveFile USB is located...
2.) When I plugged in a video camera (I had to edit some video due for delivery tomorrow) - NO DETECTION of the Video Camera!
I refreshed the Desktop screen. Unplugged and replugged in the camera ( and, earlier, my 2nd SaveFile USB ) but - No Detection on the Desktop, nor in the Hardware Detection...
I was unable to do any video editing... : - (
3.) There is also, for some reason, a new icon on the Desktop - a round button (concentric circles) labeled "SAVE" - which was not there when I set up Studio 13.37 a few weeks back... Where has it come from and why...?
Disappointing, as I haven't even begun to use my new Studio 13.37, and am having hurdles right from the start...
This may be of some use if anyone else if anyone else finds that their various plug-in devices, USB sticks (other than the Studio 13.37 USB stick) are not appearing on your desktop at some point.
Yesterday, I was using Studio 13.37, and decided the change the screen wallpaper (background) - Once I did so, not everyhting was appearing correctly, so I:
1) Clicked the "Shut Down" button, and a box with many options appears;
2) I chose "Restart X Server" and clicked it -
When the screen re-appeared after a few moments of blackness, LO and BEHOLD! the USB icons were suddenly visible again!
I do not think the non-recognition of the video camera I was plugging in via USB, in order to transfer a video file into OPENSHOT for editing and re-encoding, was due to this apparent X Server glitch - but . . . it might have been. I'll report back if whatever results I find.
Meanwhile - This disappearance of mounted USB devices from the visible Desktop icons may be a glitch on the current STUDIO 13.37 . . .
