I read the Phoronix page and the Update for the realease; thanks-

Until today I wasn't aware of the transparency issues with Gtk3 plugins.
But I'm still learning about the desktop envirnment defaults and all that jazz:-

XFCE runs great with my Fedora (spins)

We are now less than two weeks away from the 2nd anniversary of the release of Xfce 4.10.
Has there been any concrete news on 4.12?

Just yesterday I installed the MATE desktop and my first impression was it is an "improved Xfce." It is very similar to Xfce and once widely known to Xfce users it could, imo, replace Xfce. It even has a built-in menu editor.
Watch out Xfce!

Keep sending the Xfce developers emails asking: "ARE WE THERE YET?"

I haven't done that, but I did write the author of the Whisker Menu and ask if he has considered making it available for MATE.
