Shared IP Address between 2 servers ( vmware ) for heatbeat

Hi

For Heartbeat, we need a shared public ip address between 2 servers.

I have 2 machines ( Cent OS ) in vmware.

Now, how can i create a share ip address, so if machine 1 goes down, than machine 2 will use that ip address and the services will continue to run.

Will i need to have static ip address to create shared ip address ? Currently addressing done via DHCP.
