How does configuring lightdm work?

Hi all,

I'm trying to change the background image for my login screen. I have lightdm running on ubuntu 22.04.

Can you help me learn how the lightdm configuration works?
There is a folder /etc/lightdm/ which seems relevant, it holds
Code:
lightdm.conf lightdm.conf.d slick-greeter.conf users.conf
lightdm.conf.d is a folder with still more config files.

Clearly, I'm not getting what these files are doing and why there are so many. Somebody know?
Which of the files are considered by lightdm and in which order?

None of the files mentions the background image that is actually being shown. Is there still another location with more config info for lightdm?

Any help lifting this confusion is greatly appreciated!
kai

Hi,

you can change aesthetics things (background and more) in slick-greeter.conf ; to change background, add this simple line :
Code:
background=/path/to/file.jpg
(or .png, maybe others just try to know)

You could change other things like theme-name, icon-theme-name, font-name, show-clock, etc.

You can find more informations on the wiki page of Archlinux :
https://wiki.archlinux.org/title/LightDM

Have a good configuration !
