Upgraded Devuan no longer launches VLC when movie DVD inserted?
I recently upgraded Devuan from release 3 to release 4 (chimaera, the latest release). If you're unfamiliar, Devuan is basically Debian without systemd.
In releases 1-3, whenever I inserted a video DVD into the optical drive, it automatically started VLC. While I can certainly start VLC from the applications menu manually, it was kind of nice to drop the DVD in the tray and have it start automatically.
Needless to say, now when I drop a DVD in and close the tray, the activity light flashes a few times, but nothing happens in terms of the movie playing. I've looked in control center under preferred applications and VLC is already set as the default multiplayer and video player. None of the things listed under startup applications appears to have anything to do with the optical drive or VLC. I posted a similar query on the VideoLan forum, but the answers I got indicated this didn't have anything to do with the features of VLC.
Happily, I can get movies to play, and better yet, the stability of VLC appears to be much improved.
I bet there's a setting somewhere that links putting a movie DVD in the optical drive with starting VLC, but I'm fresh out of ideas as to where that setting might be. Thanks in advance for any help you can provide.
