Introduction to Linux - A Hands on Guide
This guide was created as an overview of the Linux Operating System, geared toward new users as an exploration tour and getting started guide, with exercises at the end of each chapter.
For more advanced trainees it can be a desktop reference, and a collection of the base knowledge needed to proceed with system and network administration. This book contains many real life examples derived from the author's experience as a Linux system and network administrator, trainer and consultant. They hope these examples will help you to get a better understanding of the Linux system and that you feel encouraged to try out things on your own.

I want to set up my iMac to dual boot with Fedora 27 and OSX 10.13. I read a procedure that was tested on a Mac without Boot Camp Assistant. Since OSX is installed with Boot Camp Assistant, I don't have that choice. Will Boot Camp Assistant itself (I have not used it, so my iMac is currently running only OSX) cause any problems, or should I be able to follow the procedure in the linked document?

If you'd like to dual-boot your system, then following the how-to guides is the way you can do it. Not sure why you ask, since you've obviously looked up how to dual-boot your mac, and have found the official instructions for doing so.
ANY procedure can damage your system if you don't do it right...if you're looking for 100% safety, then don't do it.
