okay, so i want to put winsuck on one and linux on the other. the problem is linux doenst want to go on. first i tried a live usb and that just completely failed. then i thought it must be something with the usb so i put fc 30 kde on a disc. now it actually goes through the install process however when it gets to the plymouth boot screen part, the gui, i get nothing. i assume this is a driver issue but how do i solve that on an install?
this has been a day and a half of battles so far. i would appreciate some help...
okay, so i guess you are saying that i should maybe command line install that but it doesnt really solve the issue unless there is some update that is going to make this magically gui compatible or are you suggesting that somehow, after i get this installed, the issue will solve itself? if there is a driver compatibility issue, as i am guessing, even if i can install linux, what then?
after i put in the cd, it goes through the initialization process and everything is okay...it looks like it is booting when to do the non-graphical boot process. when it gets to the bottom, where it says, "terminate, plymouth boot screen", this is where in the boot process it starts up the gui, in my case kde. however it does nothing.
i usually use nvidia. it is like when the nvidia driver didnt rebuild on a kernel update. that is why i assume it is a kernel issue.
oh, wait, i remember what i meant by what i said. so, IF i command line install fedora 30 kde, so after i get it installed, i am still going to have the same issue wouldnt i? the issue is that the driver for the amd radeon vids cards is not working properly. installing it, i dont think, will solve that.
i tried the vnc direct method and vnc connect method of installation and nothing. everytime it gets to "starting: terminate plymouth boot screen" and it stops. a cursor pops and it just sits...
okay, once again, thanks to me i figured this out. the issue is with the fc 30 kde spin. i have been having increasing issues (since fc27 or so and on) with that lately...anaconda not starting or showing correctly any more so i downloaded just fedora workstation and it installed perfectly. then i put on kde and switched the desktop to kde and i am good now. so, one way or another...
fyi, teckk, none of those docs alternate installtions worked correctly.
