OpenBSD 5.6/amd with XFCE on my newer work station. Dell Core2 Duo @ 3.30 GHZ, 4 GB RAM, and a 150 GB HD.

^ Yeah, I am so used to dmenu in my dwm desktop that I never use the Openbox menu.

It's not a good idea to change the default shell to a shell which is not included in the base system. If you've also changed root's shell to zsh, that's a particularly bad idea.

If you need to use a particular shell just invoke that shell from the command line - a lot saner/safer.
