I rewrote my blog post on running GUI apps in LXD containers and here is the newer version,

In the newer version, you just create a new LXD profile with the GUI settings (let's call it
gui), and then you can launch such a GUI container with
Code:
lxc launch --profile default --profile gui ubuntu:18.04 myguicontainer
Then, you can connect to the container with
Code:
lxc exec myguicontainer -- sudo --user ubuntu --login
and finally run any GUI command, such as
