Hi and welcome to LQ,

Most likely you have one or more blank spaces in the very first lines of the zone file.
Please post it here using CODE tags to keep the formatting, so we could help you better.

Regards

Hi,

You have many errors in the zonefiles posted that is difficult to spot because you're not using CODE tags.
For example you are missing the trailing dots the A RRs for the NS entries, etc.
Try the following and see how it goes:
Code:
$TTL 86400
$ORIGIN redhat.local.
@ SOA rohan.redhat.local. root.redhat.local. (
2010031403 ; serial
3600 ; refresh
1800 ; retry
604800 ; expire
86400 ) ; minimum

@ NS ns.redhat.local.
ns A 172.15.220.199
rohan.redhat.local. MX 10 rohan.redhat.local.
rohan.redhat.local. A 172.15.220.199
mail CNAME rohan.redhat.local.
Code:
$TTL 86400
$ORIGIN 220.15.172.in-addr.arpa.
@ IN SOA rohan.redhat.local. root.redhat.local. (
2010031403 ; serial
3600 ; refresh
1800 ; retry
604800 ; expire
86400 ) ; minimum

; name servers

@ IN NS ns.redhat.local.
;199 IN PTR redhat.local. ;;better keep one PTR RR per IP
199 IN PTR rohan.redhat.local.
Don't forget that you have to increase the serial every time you make a change in a zonfile, before reloading the zone, for the changes to work.
