. It works okay as an MP3 player (I have lo-fi ears, so don't think this means it returns great sound; I listen to news & talk when I'm out walking, not great music.) As a USB stick it misbehaves. Even though f3write/f3read find no errors, the file system gets screwed up and I have to make a new one. After a lot of use, the vulnerability seems to be creating subdirectories. As long as I never create subdirectories it works without error. This isn't a hardship for me. This USB id gets sold under different names (mine's 4GB, not 2) cheaply on eBay & elsewhere, without docs. So I put this here in case somebody else has one.

Later: despite the name, this device doesn't play MP4 files.

Postscript: the jack stopped working after a year. My Coby lasted 5 years, the EERAM eventually failing.

I bought a Naxa NM-105. Because Office Depot sells it I hoped it would work better. It turned out to have exactly the same USB ID (not a Naxa ID). It's only USB 1 speed, but at least it doesn't claim to be USB 2. It has the same display; the buttons are different but do the same things. I found this bit of the manual particularly amusing:

This machine packs into the battery the each opening of the confidential waiting for the first time 10 seconds, need the machine from measure to complete to grow topress to open the machine key the square can show the inconvenient place begsyour pardon.
The previous failed because the jack failed, so that's the only part that has to work better to be worth the higher price.
